How to Prepare for Ski Season

Are you a skiing enthusiast looking for a physiotherapy or osteopathy clinic in Montreal to help you prepare? Contact Soluvie.

Winter sports lift our spirits, recharge our batteries and help us forget everyday worries.

They restore our energy and well-being, helping us return to work feeling happier and healthier.

Skiing is popular, especially during school holidays, when resorts and slopes are often very busy.

There are many ways to ski, but two very different forms stand out: downhill skiing, the type traditionally seen on most ski slopes, and cross-country skiing, which has many enthusiasts but requires a particularly high level of fitness.

The Keys to a Happy Skier:

1) Build a solid physical foundation.

2) Use good equipment and proper technique.

3) Combine good nutrition with physical fitness.

4) Start by having your fitness assessed by a sports physiotherapist.

5) Have a physiotherapist assess the mobility of your lumbar spine.

6) Stationary cycling, using a stepper and running are recommended to rebuild strength, particularly in the lower body.

7) You can also strengthen your muscles simply by skipping the elevator and taking the stairs.

8) Remember to assess your core stability and work on it as needed.

9) Do exercises to help prevent lower back pain.

10) Finally, include some skipping rope to improve posture and balance as part of your physical preparation.
